Peugeot’s Nature Collection Salt & Pepper Mills

A brand-new range of salt and pepper mills designed with sustainability in mind

In an unprecedented new approach to upcycling, Peugeot introduces its Nature range, an environmentally friendly collection of pepper and salt mills made using pieces of turned wood that would otherwise be discarded during the manufacturing process. Sustainability is at the heart of the Peugeot brand, so rather than throw away, the company is embracing the knots, grain and colour inconsistencies that all add to the natural beauty of wood, to instead create a beautiful, high performance and long-lasting grinders; a must-have for the kitchens of environmentally conscious and sustainably thinking foodies.

From imperfect to perfect

In Peugeot’s unique upcycling process, each piece of ‘imperfect’ beechwood is brought back to life by being dry sandblasted. This hollows out the soft grain, leaving the hard grain visible, and creates a unique raised appearance on the wood’s surface which gives the Nature salt and pepper mills their unusual, organic texture. A solvent-free varnish is then applied to protect and preserve the natural beauty of the wood, ensuring the salt and pepper grinders last for many years of daily use. The result – a stunning and sustainable mill, as utterly unique as nature itself.

Peugeot’s unique upcycling process

Peugeot stands not only for providing optimum taste through all its products, but for the responsible use of natural resources, and with the Nature range, the brand has taken a step further in its eco-responsible approach. However, this is just a small part of Peugeot’s commitment to the environment. Peugeot’s French workshops have long been committed to continuous improvement in environmental responsibility, including PEFC™ -certified wood from sustainably managed forests located less than 100km from the factory, recycling of wood chips, gradual replacement of solvent-based paints with water-soluble paints, and French steel machined in the same workshops as the wood.

Awaken the senses

Peugeot’s Nature and Nature Black salt and pepper mills arouse the senses on every level, showcasing the beauty of wood at its most natural. They are visually striking – the wood grain is enhanced through the sandblasting process, and leaves eye-catching curves and lines running across the surface. The naturally raised surface of the Nature salt and pepper mills makes them unusual to the touch, yet particularly tactile; a pleasure to hold as you grind your pepper to release the aromas.

The Peugeot Nature and Nature Black salt and pepper mills are available in the 10cm Bistro model and the Paris model in 12cm, 18cm, 22cm, 30cm and 40cm.

Nature and Nature Black

While the Nature collection is made from natural coloured beechwood pieces discarded after the wood turning stage because they don’t meet Peugeot’s strict quality standards, the Nature Black salt and pepper grinders are designed from pieces that are upcycled after being painted in the iconic and best-selling Peugeot chocolate finish. The sandblasting effect is enhanced by the application of a solvent-free matt black paint – the paint and the texturing blend together, creating matt and glossy reflections, making each mill completely unique.

The spices that accompany our mills

Organic, Fair Trade black pepper: to deliver the very best culinary experience, the Nature and Nature Black pepper mills come with an organic, Fair Trade black pepper which packs a surprisingly refreshing and fruity powerful punch. It is sourced from a traditional farm located in the Kampot region of Cambodia.

White salt: Peugeot’s salt mills and grinders are filled with dry rock salt crystals formed millions of years ago in ancient German salt flats. This dazzlingly white salt is perfect for everyday cooking.
